By now most of you know if you are in the playoffs or building for next year in your keeper and dynasty leagues. If you are in the latter, take full advantage of this time of year. A lot of managers of playoff teams will want some top veteran player to give them an extra advantage to win the toughest and most important matches of the season, so they will be willing to pay top dollar for a high-scoring veteran with not much thread left on the tires.
Additionally, if you are still vying for a playoff berth or a Week 15 bye (and with many teams on a Week 14 bye), this week's waiver moves could be very important.
I went 1-2 last week eking out a high-scoring win, 154.10 to 153.05, to lock in a playoff berth in my dynasty league. My teams are currently in 1st (keeper), 4th (keeper), and 5th (dynasty) place, with 8-5, 9-4 and 8-5 records, respectively. None of my Week 14 games matter, so this week I am only going to make waiver moves with the playoffs or next year in mind.
My dynasty team has scored an average of 129.8 fantasy points per week. The leading four teams have scored an average of 148.2, 145.3, 138.8, and 135.6 fantasy points per week. So, on the surface, it looks like my team doesn't stand much of a chance to win the championship. However, going into mid-season I had a huge arsenal of draft capital, and I spent some of it to give my team a "playoff boost" through trades. I cover this strategy in Dynasty Draft Strategy: A Tale of Ten Trades.
These are the trades I made to help increase my odds:
I got Joe Mixon (RB, Hou) and Jayden Reed (WR, GB) for rookies Rasheen Ali (RB, Bal), Luke McCaffrey (WR, Wsh), and Ricky Pearsall (WR, SF), and mid-1st and two mid-2nd 2025 draft picks ahead of Week 7.
I got Tee Higgins (WR, Cin) for Tyreek Hill (WR, Mia) and a high 2026 1st last week.
I still have the following picks:
- 2025: two mid-to-low 1sts and one high 3rd
- 2026: two mid-to-low 1sts, three 2nds, five 3rds
Did I overpay? Probably, but Joe Mixon, Jayden Reed, and Tee Higgins provide a solid and much-needed core for my team to be competitive heading into the playoffs. When paying for a "playoff boost" I am not using my picks efficiently. Like a jet fighter afterburner, I am making powerful maneuvers to get into a winning position quickly.
Interestingly enough, one team manager questioned my Tee Higgins trade. The 25-year-old Higgins has averaged 18.4 fantasy points per week (PPR) and with Chris Godwin, TB, on IR, this makes him the #3 WR in the NFL. Whereas Hill has averaged only 12.4 fantasy points per week making him the #35 WR. Furthermore, Hill will be 31 next year, the age when top WRs start to tail off.
I will take a proven top-5 WR with 5 years left over a dart throw in the draft. (See super rookie draft sensation Marvin Harrison Jr, Ari.) The best case for Tyreek is that he comes back to his old self for the rest of the year and next season, but I will likely have Higgins for much longer.
This week, my article includes the strength of schedule for all weeks from Week 14 to Week 17 to help you align your waiver wire pickups to the weeks you need the most help.
On to the Week 14 streamers...
If you are familiar with my format of "Streamers for the Desperate" articles, then skip the following introduction.
This article is based on the principles I wrote about in How To Own Your League's Waiver Wire.
I name this article as such because it is generally for deep roster leagues (18-to-24-man rosters), and as the season progresses, especially in the 24-man roster leagues, the pickings can get very thin. ASL's Alex Cuilla writes an article focussed on regular Yahoo redraft leagues that is more descriptive but does not cover as many players. See Streamers For The Desperate - Week 14.
I list the players who are available on waivers in my three leagues and who generally scored more than 10 fantasy points (PPR). The players with an asterisks are available in my 24-man roster league. As we get deeper into the season, no matter how slim the options are, I always list a couple of available players for each position from my 24-man league.
I have loosely ranked the players but you need to decide which players are right for your team. Your criteria for deciding will be different depending on your need and if you are in a redraft, keeper, or dynasty league.
The ranking in parenthesis after each player is the strength of the opponent against that position. So a "1st" indicates the most difficult opponent for that position, and a "32nd" indicates the weakest opponent against that position.
As much effort as it is, I make waiver requests every week for all of my teams. I don't just try to fill in obvious immediate needs, but look to make my team better to the last man on the roster. A deep roster creates resilience against injury. It also results in other teams having fewer good options, increasing the opportunity to trade to teams that truly are desperate and thereby building my draft pick arsenals.
Quarterbacks
- Jameis Winston, Cle @ Pit (3rd, 22nd, 30th, 1st) - Winston completed 34 of 58 passes for 497 yards, 4 TDs, and 3 Ints and rushed 3 times for 11 yards in Week 13. His Week 12 performance against a stout Broncos D did not get a Browns W, but it sure did rack up the fantasy points. Winston has another tough matchup this week, then favorable matchups in Weeks 15 and 16. He has a low floor and high ceiling on any given week, so if you need a Hail Mary pass at the QB spot - Winston might be your guy.
- *Aidan O'Connell, LV @ TB (31st, 26th, 32nd, 11th) - Coming off IR, O'Connell completed 23 of 35 passes for 340 yards and 2 TDs, and rushed once for no gain. He also lost a fumble. O'Connell is a sophomore and his performance showed overall promise as he continues to develop. He has favorable matchups for the next three weeks and is worth a stash in dynasty leagues.
- Caleb Williams (R), Chi @ SF (10th, 17th, 6th, 14th) - Williams completed 20 of 39 passes for 256 yards and 3 TDs and rushed 4 times for 39 yards in Week 13. The Bears are an overall mess, but Williams seems to be improving and continues to have long-term dynasty potential.
- Derek Carr, NO @ NYG (16th, 15th, 8th, 24th) - Carr completed 24 of 37 passes for 184 yards and 1 TD and rushed twice for 2 yards in Week 13. Carr remains just an okay streaming option for most of the rest of the season.
- Will Levis, Ten @ Wsh (32nd, 27th, 23rd, 32nd) - Levis completed 18 of 37 passes for 212 yards and 2 TDs, and rushed twice for -3 yards in Week 13. Levis is a struggling sophomore, but he's not the worst streaming option and has favorable matchups the rest of the way.
- Bryce Young, Car @ Phi (5th, 28th, 12th, 31st) - Young completed 26 of 46 passes for 298 yards and a TD and rushed 3 times for 17 yards and a TD in Week 13. Young has a tough match-up against the Eagles this week but has favorable matchups in Weeks 15 and 17.
- *Cooper Rush, Dal v Cin (30th, 27th, 31st, 5th) - Rush completed 21 of 36 passes for 195 yards and 1 TD, and rushed 5 times for 0 yards in Week 13. Playing from the lead, Rush played conservatively and protected the ball. He will likely need to play more aggressively against the Browns in Week 14, which should result in a better stat line for fantasy.
- *Mac Jones, Jax @ Ten (23rd, 9th, 24th, 23rd) - Jones took over near the end of the 2nd quarter after Trevor Lawrence took a hard hit to the head. Jones completed 20 of 32 passes for 235 yards, 2 TDs, and a 2-pt conversion, and rushed 3 times for 6 yards in Week 13. It appears Jones is slated to start in Week 14, and could remain the starter the rest of the season.
- *Drew Lock or Tommy Devito, NYG @ Dal (11th, 29th, 26th, 21st) - Lock got the start in Week 13, and completed 21 of 32 passes for 178 yards and 1 Int, rushed 4 times for 57 yards and a TD. He also lost a fumble. The Giants have not declared the starter for Week 14 yet.
Running Backs
- Isaac Guerendo (R), SF v Chi (23rd, 22nd, 20th, 2nd) - Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason both went down in Week 13 and are now on IR. Guerendo took over and is expected to start for at least the next four weeks. Guerendo has shown promise earlier this season. At 6 ft, 221 pounds with a 4.33 40-yard dash, Guerendo will be a top waiver wire acquisition this week.
- *Chris Rodriguez, Wsh (Bye, 25th, 5th, 9th) - Rodriguez rushed 13 times for 94 yards and 1 TD to make a case to supplant Jeremy McNichols as the No. 2 back behind Brian Robinson while Austin Ekeler is out for at least three more games. He won't help you for Week 14 but might be useful for Week 15.
- Jerome Ford, Cle @ Pit (12th, 1st, 13th, 21st) - Ford rushed 9 times for 41 yards and caught his only target for 21 yards, tying Nick Chubb for carries and leading in yards in Week 13. He only has 1 TD on the year, but if he continues to split carries with Chubb, is a mediocre streaming option based on volume for Week 14.
- Ameer Abdullah, LV @ TB (24th, 9th, 31st, 25th) - With Zamir White and Alexander Mattison both still out in Week 13, Abdullah rushed 10 times for 39 yards, and caught both his targets for 14 yards against the Chiefs' top run D in Week 13. White and Mattison have a good chance to return for Week 14, so it's likely Abdullah will return to his 3rd-down. Even if they don't, McCormick was the more efficient back and might have the lead role in Week 14.
- *Sincere McCormick, LV @ TB (24th, 9th, 31st, 25th) - McCormick was pulled off the practice squad to share carries with Abdullah while White and Mattison were both out in Week 13. He rushed 12 times for 64 yards and caught both his targets for 1 yard. If White and Mattison remain out, with his efficient performance he could take the lead role and Abdullah could have the 3-down pass-catching role.
- Zach Charbonnet, Sea @ Ari (20th, 16th, 3rd, 22nd) - Charbonnet rushed 4 times for 28 yards and a TD, and caught 2 of 3 targets for 13 yards. Charbonnet gets moderate volume but has a low floor. He would be a streaming option only if there are no better choices.
- Ray Davis (R), Buf @ LAR (22nd, 2nd, 19th, 10th) - Davis rushed 11 times for 63 yards and a TD and caught his only target for 4 yards. Davis remains the No. 2 back behind James Cook going into Week 14.
- *Isaiah Davis (R), NYJ @ Mia (21st, 31st, 23rd, 30th) - Davis rushed once for 4 yards and caught all 3 of his targets for 28 yards and a TD, his first of the season. This is the most volume he has had all season, and being a rookie with an uptick in volume might make him worthy of a stash in deep dynasty leagues.
Receivers
- Adam Thielen, Car @ Phi (7th, 21st, 19th, 25th) - Thielen caught 8 of his 10 targets for 99 yards and a TD in Week 13. Thielen has become Bryce Young's favorite target since returning to action in Week 12.
- Marquez Valdes-Scantling, NO @ NYG (11th, 18th, 8th, 10th) - MVS caught 2 of 3 targets for 36 yards and a TD in Week 13, making this his third game in a row where he has caught at least 1 TD. With Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave both on IR, MVS should continue to have fantasy value in Week 14.
- Brandon Cooks, Dal v Cin (22nd, 14th, 27th, 5th) - Cooks returned from IR to catch 3 of his 7 targets for 17 yards and a TD. Cooks will look to improve in Week 14 as he scrapes the rust off and improves chemistry with Rush Cooper.
- Tre Tucker, LV @ TB (25th, 28th, 30th, 26th) - Tucker caught his only target for 58 yards and a TD and rushed once for 11 yards. In Week 12 he caught 7 of his 8 targets for 82 yards. His volume from week to week is hard to predict, making him a risky fantasy play, but he does have a fantasy-relevant ceiling.
- Ray-Ray McCloud, Atl @ Min (32nd, 10th, 13th, 21st) - McCloud caught 4 of his 6 targets for 95 yards and rushed once for -2 yards. With consistent moderate volume and up against a soft Vikings D, McCloud makes a reasonable streaming option in Week 14.
- *David Moore, Car @ Phi (5th, 20th, 18th, 27th) - With Jalen Coker out, Moore caught 5 of his 9 targets for 40 yards in Week 13, and should continue to be a decent streaming option as long as Coker remains out.
- *Marvin Mims, Den (Bye, 17th, 13th, 23rd) - Mims caught 3 of his 4 targets for 105 yards and a TD and rushed once for four yards. He has seen an uptick in volume since Week 10, averaging 5.3 touches per game. Although he is on a bye week for Week 14, he could help a team in need of a WR for the playoffs.
- *Parker Washington, Jax @ Ten (5th, 1st, 10th, 5th) - Washington caught 6 of his 12 targets for 103 yards and also caught a 2-pt conversion. With Gabe Davis and Christian Kirk both out with season-ending injuries, Washington, a sophomore, is in line for continued higher volume, albeit against challenging matchups through Week 17, and could be worth a stash in dynasty leagues.
- Calvin Austin III, Pit v Cle (24th, 7th, 31st, 15th) - Austin caught both his targets for 29 yards and a TD before leaving the game with a concussion. If healthy for Week 14, Austin is a low-volume TD-dependent streaming option.
- *Demarcus Robinson, LAR v Buf (4th, 6th, 1st, 19th) - Robinson caught 2 of his 3 targets for 49 yards and a TD in Week 13. He injured his hand in Week 13 and is questionable to return for Week 14. Robinson is a TD-dependent hit-or-miss streaming option.
Tight Ends
- Noah Gray (R), KC v LAC (6th, 7th, 3rd, 20th) - Gray didn't catch 2 TDs as in the previous two weeks, but he made a decent showing in Week 13, catching 4 of his 6 targets for 58 yards. It was the second week in a row that Gray caught 2 TDs. He has a tough schedule ahead but is a decent streaming option even while sharing TE targets with Travis Kelce.
- Dalton Schultz, Hou (Bye, 23rd, 31st, 24th) - Schultz caught 5 of his 7 targets for 61 yards and his first TD of the season in Week 13. Although he is on a Week 14 bye, he might be worth a stash for the playoffs because of his favorable upcoming schedule.
- *Tanner Hudson, Cin @ Dal (13th, 10th, 7th, 19th) - Hudson caught all 4 of his targets for 28 yards in Week 13. He is a hit-or-miss streaming option against an average opponent in Week 14.
- Will Dissly, LAC @ KC (31st, 27th 19th, 16th) - Dissly failed to catch his only target in Week 13. This is not typical of Dissly, and he can be expected to rebound to his more typical 4 to 5 catches against a soft Chiefs defense in Week 14.
- *Luke Schoonmaker, Dal v Cin (32nd, 29th, 27th, 11th) - With Jake Ferguson out, Schoonmaker caught 5 of his 6 targets for 33 yards in Week 13. Against a soft Bengals D, Schoonmaker is a decent streaming option in Week 14 if Ferguson remains sidelined.
- Ja'Tavion Sanders (R), Car @ Phi (11th, 13th, 9th, 27th) - Sanders came out of the Week 12 game with a neck injury and remained out in Week 13. Before getting hurt Sanders caught all three of his targets for 49 yards in Week 12. He has inconsistent, low to moderate volume, and if healthy is a hit-or-miss streamer in Week 14.
- *Josh Oliver, Min v Atl (8th, 17th, 21st, 25th) - Oliver has been out since Week 12. He has averaged 3.5 catches on 4 targets for 43.5 yards and has 2 TDs in his last four games. He is expected to play in Week 14, but expectations should be low against the stingy Falcons D.
- *Tommy Tremble, Car @ Phi (11th, 13th, 9th, 27th) - Tremble filled in admirably for Ja'Tavion Sanders, catching 5 of 8 targets for 77 yards in Week 13. If Sanders remains out, Tremble is a hit-or-miss streaming option.
Kickers
- Eddy Pineiro, Car @ Phi (8th, 26th, 25th, 20th)
- Jake Elliot, Phi v Car (30th, 5th, 6th, 26th)
- Chad Ryland, Ari v Sea (7th, 11th, 30th, 24th)
- Nick Folk, Ten v Jax (21st, 16th, 22nd, 21st)
- Jason Myers, Sea @ Ari (25th, 4th, 3rd, 23rd)
- Matthew Wright, KC v LAC (1st, 14th, 15th, 5th)
Defense / Special Teams
- Arizona Cardinals v Sea (27th, 28th, 21st, 10th)
- Seattle Seahawks @ Ari (16th, 6th, 18th, 23rd)
- Cincinnati Bengals @ Dal (25th, 32nd, 31st, 7th)
- Detroit Lions v GB (4th, 1st, 24th, 16th)
- Houston Texans (Bye, 26th, 5th, 2nd)
- Indianapolis Colts (Bye, 6th, 32nd, 31st)
