Quarterbacks

Injury – Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers (Q – Hand)
Opportunity – Trey Lance

Herbert injured the ring finger on his non-throwing hand and briefly left the game before returning with tape. Although it’s promising that he came back, this is similar to the Aaron Rodgers injury from a couple weeks ago. Herbert is scheduled to undergo surgery on the fracture. I think he’ll want to play and be truly questionable, but my gut says he sits at least one game like Rodgers did.

That puts Trey Lance in line to start. Lance is a fine backup quarterback, but this hurts all the receiving options, so downgrade them slightly.

Running Backs

Injury – Kyren Williams, Los Angeles Rams (Q – Ankle)
Opportunity – Blake Corum

Williams exited in the first half of their loss to the Panthers with an ankle injury. He returned at the start of the second half and seemed to be involved as normal. I would expect him to play this week, but we may see a bit more Corum mixed in. Corum is still a worthy stash in case things change and Williams is unable to go.

Injury – Aaron Jones Sr., Minnesota Vikings (Q – Shoulder)
Opportunity – Jordan Mason

Jones appears to have re-aggravated his previous AC joint sprain and is now questionable for Week 15. Although reports have been positive and he wants to play, there is a good chance he misses time as well. Either way, Jordan Mason’s workload should grow significantly and he becomes a backend RB2.

If Jones can go, I’d be nervous about starting him because of re-injury risk and a likely reduced workload.

Wide Receivers

Injury – Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions (Q – Ankle)
Opportunity – Jameson Williams

St. Brown injured his ankle early in his Thanksgiving matchup and did not return, leaving his managers with a dud. The report is that he suffered a low ankle sprain, which does bode well for his chances to play next week. I would expect him back.

However, Jameson Williams looks like a terrific option whether St. Brown plays or not. He should be featured against a weak Cowboys secondary.

Injury – Marvin Harrison Jr., Arizona Cardinals (Q – Heel)
Opportunity – Michael Wilson, Trey McBride

Harrison returned from appendicitis only to leave their game against the Buccaneers with a heel injury. Heel injuries are tough for wide receivers—pushing off the line of scrimmage, making cuts, changing direction—all of it is affected, and pain management becomes a major factor.

I would expect Harrison to miss most of practice this week and be ruled out for Week 14. Michael Wilson already showed what he can do without Harrison in the lineup, and I’d expect more of the same: a very safe WR2.
