ASL's Kevin Campbell looks at the Houston Texans' fantasy assets, focusing on QB C.J. Stroud, WR Nico Collins, and RB Joe Mixon. This offensive trio helped catapult the Texans back into contention and are must-targets in dynasty formats heading into 2025 and beyond.

Now more powerful than ever: The Machine - DFS Lineup Optimizer

C.J. Stroud: Dynasty QB1

C.J. Stroud burst onto the scene in 2023 with one of the most impressive rookie campaigns in recent NFL history—and he didn’t slow down in 2024. His combination of accuracy, poise, and downfield aggression makes him a dream QB for fantasy managers.

2024 Fantasy Production: Stroud followed up his stellar rookie year by taking a step back statistically. Injuries to key players and a turnstile offensive line made life difficult, as Stroud was pressured on 38.6 percent of his dropbacks (4th in the NFL) and sacked 52 times. He also struggled with interceptions, finishing with 12. That said, Stroud still managed to throw for over 3,700 yards to go with 20 TDs, and should continue to be one of the best up-and-coming young QBs in the NFL.

Dynasty Value: At only 23 years old, Stroud is already viewed as a top-five dynasty quarterback. His weapons are young and explosive, and the Texans’ coaching staff has built a system around his strengths. His price in SuperFlex leagues has somewhat cooled, but he's still a young and relevant QB. If you're in a rebuild or seeking long-term stability, Stroud is a cornerstone piece.

Nico Collins: From Breakout to Belief

Nico Collins made the long-awaited leap in 2023 and confirmed it was no fluke in 2024. The former third-round pick has become one of the league’s premier X receivers and is now entrenched as Stroud’s go-to target on the outside.

2024 Fantasy Production: Collins totaled 68 receptions for 1,006 yards and 7 touchdowns despite missing five games with a hamstring injury. His production was quite impressive, regularly operating as the primary read in critical downfield situations. Additionally, Collins's ability to win on the boundary and in contested catch situations makes him a reliable WR1/2 in most formats.

Dynasty Value: Still just 26, Collins is in his prime and has signed a long-term extension with the Texans. His usage and chemistry with Stroud put him firmly inside the top-10 dynasty WR rankings. While he may not carry the same name cachet as elite wideouts, the production is real and sustainable.

Joe Mixon: Savvy Veteran RB

Joe Mixon won't trick anyone into thinking he's currently one of the best RBs in the NFL, but his versatility and ability to do a bit of everything make him a highly valuable piece to any NFL offense.

2024 Fantasy Production: While he only played in 14 games due to injury, when on the field, Mixon was on pace to have one of his best seasons ever at the RB position. He rushed for over 1,000 yards to go with 11 TDs while also grabbing 36 receptions en route to over 300 yards receiving.

Dynasty Value: Heading into his age-29 season, Mixon should continue to be tasked with large workloads, although perhaps to a lesser extent with veterans Nick Chubb & Dameon Pierce and rookie Woody Marks waiting in the wings. While there are some injury concerns due to age, Mixon should at least be a high-end RB2 if he can stay on the field.

Honorable Mentions

Dalton Schultz, TE

Schultz had a bit of a down year in 2024 with 53 receptions for 532 yards and 2 touchdowns, representing his lowest marks in each category since 2019. However, despite the additional weapons Houston has acquired during the offseason, he remains a safety valve for Stroud and a solid TE2/streaming option. In deeper TE-premium formats, he's also worth rostering for his floor and red-zone usage.

Jayden Higgins/Jalin Noel, WRs

The Texans double-dipped on Iowa State wideouts in April's NFL draft, taking Higgins at No. 34 overall and Noel at No. 79. Both project to help Houston with depth at the position, and Higgins especially has the skill and talent to easily emerge as Stroud's second-favorite target at some point in 2025 or beyond.

The Houston Texans have undergone one of the most dramatic turnarounds in the NFL over the past two seasons. At the center of that transformation is quarterback C.J. Stroud, whose development has elevated every skill player in this offense.

From a dynasty perspective, stacking Stroud with either Collins or Higgins is one of the best “double-ups” you can make. All three players are still young and have multiple years of team control. The coaching continuity and offensive system give them a rare blend of floor and upside.

Texans' offensive players now represent some of the safest and most valuable dynasty assets. In SuperFlex leagues, Stroud is a Tier-1 quarterback, and in full PPR leagues, Collins is a set-it-and-forget-it starter. Dynasty managers should prioritize acquiring shares of this offense wherever possible.

Whether you’re rebuilding or trying to push for a title, these are the types of players you build around—explosive and already producing.

The Houston Texans have gone from a fantasy afterthought to an offensive juggernaut led by rising stars. C.J. Stroud is a franchise quarterback with elite potential, Nico Collins has developed into a true WR1, and RB Joe Mixon continues to add explosive playmaking to every lineup he's in.

All three players are locked into major roles, and the surrounding offense continues to support their production. In dynasty leagues, securing pieces of this passing game could set you up for success in 2025 and many seasons to come.
