Hot Fantasy Updates

Allen Robinson- WR- Jacksonville- In an offensive shootout of a game, Robinson piled up the fantasy points in a dominant performance. Robinson hauled in ten of fifteen targets for 153 yards and a remarkable three touchdowns. In a game full of high-powered offensive performances, Robinson had quite the connection with QB Blake Bortles today. Robinson has become a surefire fantasy WR1, and should rack up more points next week against the Colts.

Javorious Allen- RB- Baltimore- Allen has done a serviceable job subbing for the injured Justin Forsett, and despite not having a single rushing touchdown all season, had his second consecutive game with a receiving TD Sunday against the Dolphins. In addition to 63 rushing yards on 17 carries, Allen caught 12 passes for 103 receiving yards and a touchdown. Allen has become a solid RB2, and is even more helpful in PPR leagues. He has a less friendly matchup next week against the Seahawks.

Brandon Marshall- WR- New York Jets- Marshall combined volume and efficiency in Sunday’s win over the Giants. Marshall took advantage of a porous Giants secondary, catching 12 of 13 targets from QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, scoring a touchdown on 131 receiving yards. Marshall has made fantasy news as he has caught a TD in five straight games, scoring six times in that span. He has high upside next week against the Titans.

Eagles D/ST- It’s a rare day when a defense makes the hot list, but the Eagles earned it against the Patriots. The Eagles intercepted two of Tom Brady’s passes (including a pick-six), blocked a kick for a TD, and also returned a punt for a touchdown. This was made even more unexpected by the fact the Eagles allowed 45 points in each of their previous two games. The Eagles allowed 28 points Sunday, but their defensive scores earned them a place on this list. This is an isolated fantasy performance, and while the Eagles defense is good, it likely will not match this.

Not Fantasy Updates

Adrian Peterson- RB- Minnesota- Peterson and the Vikings had the unenviable matchup of the Seahawks defense this week, and Minnesota did not get much going offensively in a 38-7 loss. Since the Vikings did not have much opportunity to rely on the running game, Peterson only ran the ball eight times for 18 yards. Peterson had only six receiving yards, but caught all four passes thrown his way. Expect better numbers the rest of the way.

Jarvis Landry- WR- Miami- Landry’s performance suffered as he played through a knee injury, catching just two passes for a paltry five yards. This was the first game of the year where Landry gained fewer than 40 yards, and considering that the Dolphins play the Giants next week on Monday night, Landry should have enough time to recover and put up a better game.

Emmanuel Sanders- WR- Denver- Sanders had a disappointing game on Sunday against the Chargers, as the wideout hauled in just three of his eight targets for 19 yards in the Broncos’ win. Sanders gained 5 additional yards on a rushing play, but struggled overall. Sanders had an ankle injury prior to last week and was listed as probable prior to Sunday’s game, so perhaps the injury lingered this week. He should look better next week as he gets time to recover prior to a favorable matchup against the Raiders.

Giovani Bernard- RB- Cincinnati- Bernard stood to gain receiving targets from the loss of tight end Tyler Eifert, but only caught one pass for nine yards and earning 26 yards on just five carries. The Bengals may be relying on Bernard less as the weather cools off and as games dictate more of a “bruising” running style. Bernard will face an uphill climb to gain yards as his role diminishes.
