Through just six weeks of football, injuries to high-profile players are really starting to pile up. If you’re a fantasy manager who’s made it this far without dealing with a major loss due to injury, don’t stop your Sunday ritual. Wearing the same unwashed shirt? Sitting in the same worn-out corner of the couch? Whatever it is, keep it up! For most of us, this is where we find ourselves—looking to fill the void. So, let’s do just that.

Wide Receivers

Injury – Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams (Q – Ankle)
Opportunity – Davante Adams, Tutu Atwell

Nacua left last week’s game against the Ravens after falling hard on his leg in the end zone. Although he was able to return, it seems it was strictly for decoy purposes, as he was not involved in the passing game afterward.

With HC Sean McVay saying his status next week is in doubt, and with the bye week following, he will likely miss next week. As a result, Adams' managers can lock him into their lineups as a solid WR1. In deeper leagues, Tutu Atwell could fill your flex spot admirably, as he is a familiar name in this system and has flourished when called upon.

Injury – Emeka Egbuka, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (D – Hamstring)
Opportunity – Mike Evans, Cade Otton

Egbuka was on an absolute heater to start his NFL campaign and was the steal of your draft. This week, however, he joins the list of high-profile players sidelined by injury. Fantasy apps may list him as questionable, but he was quickly downgraded to out for this game. This type of injury typically results in a one-to-two-week absence at a minimum. He’s doubtful in my view, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this extends to 3–4 weeks due to their Week 9 bye.

WR Mike Evans is expected back, and while he may return to borderline WR1 production in the weeks ahead, I’m wary of starting players the first week back after a major soft tissue injury. However, most of us are forced into it. TE Cade Otton should be a safer volume play for those needing a tight end over the next few weeks.

Both WRs Tez Johnson and Kameron Johnson are deep-league flyers if you’re in need. Both players are just one deep touchdown away from weekly relevance (Tez did it last week). It’s simply a matter of knowing who will get it.

Injury – Garrett Wilson, New York Jets (P – Knee)
Opportunity – Mason Taylor

Wilson seemed to hurt his knee in last week’s game against the Broncos. He played the entire game; however, a recent MRI revealed a hyperextension. He will be out for “a couple of weeks.” With this news, the main beneficiary is the run game and TE Mason Taylor, who can now be considered a locked-in top-15 tight end while Wilson recovers.

Injury – Marvin Harrison Jr., Arizona Cardinals (Q – Concussion)
Opportunity – Michael Wilson, Zay Jones

Arizona WR Marvin Harrison Jr. left Sunday’s game early with a concussion. It’s nearly guaranteed he will miss at least one week as he progresses through the NFL’s concussion protocol.

WR Michael Wilson should be a solid WR3 as he absorbs most of the vacated targets, with WRs Zay Jones and even Greg Dortch possibly becoming flex-worthy in deeper leagues. TE Trey McBride also sees a bump, but he’s already consuming nearly every opportunity in this offense.

Injury – Calvin Ridley, Tennessee Titans (D – Hamstring)
Opportunity – Elic Ayomanor, Tajae Spears

Ridley left Sunday’s loss to the Raiders early with a hamstring injury. As mentioned under Egbuka, this is typically a multi-week absence. His status does need monitoring, however, as the Titans have a Week 10 bye. If the injury is severe, they may hold him out through the bye week.

I see Ayomanor as a WR3 with upside. He has shown a rapport with QB Cam Ward, posting two top-36 finishes so far this year. Spears may also be one of the biggest beneficiaries of this injury, as he continues to see more work in the running game and passing game. He’s a solid flex play in PPR leagues.

Tight End

Injury – David Njoku, Cleveland Browns (D – Knee)
Opportunity – Harrold Fannin Jr.

Although we don’t know the full scope of Njoku’s injury, multiple failed attempts to re-enter last week’s game suggest this will not be easily managed before their next matchup.

Fannin Jr. can be locked in as a top-10 tight end every week for as long as Njoku is sidelined.
