In the dynamic world of dynasty fantasy football, identifying and stashing young, high-potential talent is key to long-term success. This is especially true for the quarterback position, which can anchor your team for years. As we look ahead to the 2024 season, here are five quarterbacks you should consider stashing on your fantasy football dynasty roster, with 4 sophomores and 1 rookie.

QB 1: Bryce Young - Carolina Panthers

Current Team and Role: First overall pick for the Panthers last year, heading into year 2 in both the NFL and as the Carolina starter.

Performance and Potential: Young’s rookie season, by all measures, was an absolute bust. It was so bad that his head coach was fired halfway through the year and Young ended up throwing more interceptions (11) than TD’s (10). To add insult to injury he was at or near the bottom of almost every passing category in the NFL.

Why He Is a Good Stash for 2024: Young is still developing. Contrary to popular belief, many successful NFL QB’s struggle their rookie year, and Young was no exception in this regard. Additionally, Carolina has brought in a new staff led by new head coach Dave Canales, who turned Baker Mayfield into a bonafide starter last year while with the Tampa Bay Bucs. On the field, Carolina has also added additional weapons for Young, including trading for veteran wideout Diontae Johnson from the Pittsburgh Steelers. The pieces are in place for Young to have a bounce back season.

Future Projections and Expectations: Assuming Young continues to develop, he has a real chance at being a solid starting option at the QB position. While he still isn’t worth starting in 1 QB leagues, he’s definitely in the buy low category and could easily out play other QBs like Geno Smith or the aforementioned Mayfield when all is said and done. In Superflex leagues he’s definitely worth a speculative add, and the expectation is that Canales will work his QB magic once again and turn Young into a solid contributor at the QB position.

QB 2: Jordan Love - Green Bay Packers

Current Team and Role: Even though he’s entering his fifth season in the NFL, 2023 was Love’s first season as a starter. The Packers are now his team after they handed him the starting reins from the veteran Aaron Rodgers.

Performance and Potential: Love, like many great Packer QB’s before him, came out and put up excellent numbers his first year. For the first 8 weeks he was absolutely atrocious, with many labeling him a bust. However, beginning at the halfway point in Week 9, Love ended up throwing 21 TD’s with just three interceptions en route to helping his team to a 7-3 finish and playoff berth. As with his predecessors Brett Favre and Rodgers, Love is in a position to become the next of a legacy of great Green Bay QB’s, and figures to be the starting QB for the short and long-term future.

Why He Is a Good Stash for 2024: It might already be too late to get him cheaply, as many astute dynasty owners have most likely made a move to attempt to acquire him for 2024. It is not unreasonable to assume that Love continues his development in 2024 and becomes a top-10 QB. He’s more than just a good stash, he’s already a viable starting option in all league formats.

Future Projections and Expectations: Is it possible Love could be even better in year 2 as a starter? I think it’s not only possible, it’s most likely probable. Now with a full year of starting under his belt and more experience with his wide receivers, Love is poised for a breakout year in 2024.

QB 3: Jayden Daniels - Washington Commanders

Current Team and Role: Jayden Daniels, the current Heisman Trophy winner last year in college football, was drafted 2nd overall by Washington in this year’s NFL draft. He’s expected to be the starting QB for the Commanders all season.

Performance and Potential: Daniels possesses an elite arm and excellent rushing potential for a QB, with some saying he could end being the better QB of the two between him and fellow rookie Caleb Williams. While some analysts state that he’s a bit thin for a QB and could easily get hurt, it’s not out of the realm of possibility for him to add muscle as he gets older, thus proving those doubters wrong. With new OC Kliff Kingsbury calling the shots, Daniels has the potential to be rookie of the year at the QB position.

Why He Is a Good Stash for 2024: While he will most likely be good, somehow in many leagues he’s being overlooked and is behind fellow rookie QB’s Williams and Drake Maye. This shows that many dynasty owners have him listed as 3rd in Superflex formats, and even lower in 1 QB leagues. I believe this is a mistake, as the last rushing QB Kingsbury worked with ended up having an excellent rookie year and is now entrenched as his team’s starter for the foreseeable future. That player: Kyler Murray. There are some who believe Daniels will eventually be better than Murray. If he comes anywhere close to that, it would have to be labeled as a huge win for Washington and fantasy owners. There is still time to attempt to acquire Daniels via trade in fantasy leagues where he might not be getting the attention he should. If so, he would be an excellent buy, especially in super-flex formats.

Future Projections and Expectations: With the Commanders flying high under a new coaching staff and Daniels being their first pick, the odds are in his favor that he will be the starter long-term. Additionally, last year's Heisman Trophy winner posted elite numbers in both the NFL combine and during his pro day, so expectations for him are sky high. With Kliff Kingsbury as his offensive coordinator, the sky is the limit as long as he can stay healthy.

Now more powerful than ever: The Machine - DFS Lineup Optimizer

QB 4: Anthony Richardson - Indianapolis Colts

Current Team and Role: Anthony Richardson, the fourth overall pick from last year’s NFL draft, is the starter for the foreseeable future in Indy. His four-game debut showed glimpses of why the Colts took him so high and even though he ended up being hurt, the Colts are riding with him for this year and potentially  beyond.

Performance and Potential: Even though he has a big arm, he didn’t show it off much in his rookie year. Additionally, his accuracy is still a major work in progress. Despite this, his running game is already top tier, as he averaged almost 7.0 yards per carry last year. This gives him a solid fantasy floor as his passing game develops. Coach Shane Steichen is known for guiding the development of Jalen Hurts during his time with the Eagles, and assuming Richardson returns to full health, should help him reach the upper echelon of top-tier QBs.

Why He Is a Good Stash for 2024: Statistically speaking, rushing QB’s are less likely to get hurt then pocket passers, as their rushing ability enables them to avoid the big hit most of the time. That said, Richardson is coming off multiple leg injuries, which could slightly impact his rushing potential. While those injuries could potentially limit his rushing stats, they also bode well for his potential to remain healthy moving forward, as the odds of him getting hurt with a similar injury again is lower than last year. Pair this with an expected growth in rushing, passing, and accuracy, and Richardson is a great buy target for this year.

Future Projections and Expectations: Due to his rushing ability and youth, as long as the Colts succeed and Shane Steichen is the head coach, Richardson will most likely be the starter over the long-term unless he suffers more injuries moving forward. The odds of him becoming an elite QB in the NFL are quite good.

QB 5: Will Levis - Tennessee Titans

Current Team and Role: Will Levis was the 33rd overall pick in last year’s draft by the Tennessee Titans. He started out as the 3rd QB on the depth chart until the Week 8 injury to Ryan Tannehill, and in his first game as the starter threw 4 TDs. Unfortunately he only threw four more the rest of the year, and the accuracy issues that eluded him in college also reared their ugly head in those games. However, moving forward the Titans have a new coaching staff in place with new receivers in Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd, so Levis possesses the potential to have significant growth in year 2. Currently he is projected to be the team’s starter heading into the season.

Performance and Potential: Once Levis had his first game of the year, the kid gloves came off, and his fantasy stock soared. That said, his rest of the season stats dropped him down like a rock, and he’s now in a situation where he has something to prove. The addition of coach Brian Callahan from the Bengals should do wonders for Levis moving forward, and its likely the new coaching staff puts him in every position to succeed. Barring injury, Levis should be the starter for the entire year in Tennessee and should exhibit significant growth as the season moves along.

Why He Is a Good Stash for 2024: The Titans and new coaching regime view him as the starter for this year. While he was drafted by the previous regime and their is a chance he is eventually moved, unless he royally screws things up he should be starting for the next 1-2 years. By that time, if he has proven himself to this new coaching regime, there is a possibility the Titans may hold onto him over the long-term. At this point, that remains to be seen. If you are in need of a solid starter for this year and possibly next, Levis should be a solid addition to your fantasy squad. Just keep in mind that his window of opportunity might be a tad smaller than some of the other young QB’s.

Future Projections and Expectations: Levis has a cannon of an arm, and can chuck the deep ball with the best of them. He also possesses some rushing capability, although it isn’t his strength. If he can harness his control and improve his accuracy on the short to medium term passes, he should be quite successful as the Titans’ starting QB.

Stashing young quarterbacks in dynasty leagues is a strategic move that can pay off handsomely in the long run. Bryce Young, Jordan Love, Jayden Daniels, Anthony Richardson, & Will Levis  each offer unique traits and high potential for future fantasy success. By securing these players now, you position yourself to dominate your league in 2024 and beyond. Don't wait- add these high-upside quarterbacks to your roster and watch your dynasty team thrive. Throw out some offers to your league mates and see what sticks. If you can get any of them for a 2025 1st rounder or less, it would be a smash accept, especially in super-flex formats.
