The top lineups for MLB Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) in main slates almost always contain double team stacks.

If you are new to DFS, then you might wonder what a double team stack is. In baseball, when one batter does well, it helps the other batters on the team score more fantasy points. For example, when one batter gets on base, that gives another batter one more at-bat and a chance to score a run-batted-in (RBI). So in fantasy baseball, batters of the same team have a tendency to rise or fall together compared with their projected fantasy point estimate. This is called positive performance correlation.

(Negative performance correlation is when a good performance of one player hurts the performance of another player. For example, batters have a negative performance correlation with the pitcher that pitches to them. This is why we often exclude the opposing pitcher from DFS MLB lineups.)

So when the goal is to score very high in a contest, DFS contestants make lineups with a lot of batters on the same team. FanDuel allows no more than four batters from the same team in a lineup. Since a FanDuel main slate lineup has eight batters, that gives the chance to stack up to four batters from one team and four batters from another team. This is called a double team stack.

This demo shows how to use ASL's DFS Optimizer to create double team stacks using ASL's powerful and unique Stack Attack feature.
