Fantasy sports players in Iowa and fantasy players who may potentially play in Iowa: Did you know that it is not clear if playing fantasy sports in Iowa is fully legal?
The Fantasy Sports Trade Association would like Iowa to clarify its laws to fully legalize all forms of fantasy sports. The Iowa standard for gambling currently does not allow fantasy sports contests that award prizes as any play-for-cash contest violates Iowa state law, regardless of whether the contest involves predominantly skill or chance.
As a result, the FSTA is helping to support a bill in the Iowa House of Representatives (HF 2383) clarifying that fantasy sports contests are legal in Iowa. Our efforts have helped pass the bill in both key Iowa Senate and House committees with overwhelming bi-partisan support. But the bill is waiting for a vote on the floor of the House.
We need your help to convince members of the Iowa House to bring the bill up for a vote.
To help the effort, please contact the bill's sponsor, Jake Highfill, and House Majority Leader Linda Upmeyer, who decides what bills come up for a vote.
Here's what you can tell them:
“I am one of thousands of fantasy sports competitors in Iowa that compete with other fantasy sports competitors to draft the best players and win my league. We would like to be able to compete with each other knowing fantasy sports contests are legal in Iowa. Please support and pass HF 2383."
Here is where to contact the key legislators:

If you are a resident of Iowa, please contact your representative in the House and/or Senate and let them know they should support the bill. You can find your representatives here: https://www.legis.iowa.gov/legislators/find.
