Derek Carr – Raiders: With a revamped receiving corps that features the likes of Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree, the Raiders have given the spark to their young QB that they desperately lacked last season. He’s tallied a 97.7 passer rating to this point with an impressive seven to two touchdown ratio. Look for Carr to continue his hot start and act as an excellent replacement for some of the struggling QBs that unfortunate owners drafted as starters like Stafford and Bradford.
Christine Michael – Cowboys: While Michael is certainly more of a stash than an instant starter, he could evolve into a solid RB2 by the end of the season if the Cowboys continue to struggle in the running game as they did on Sunday. The Cowboys brought in Michael to aid a depleted backfield after DeMarco Murray left for Philly, and he is undoubtedly the most complete back that Dallas has. Both Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden have averaged fewer than four yards per carry this season and Lance Dunbar will now miss the rest of the year with an ACL injury, meaning it won’t be long before Michael gets his chance.
Duke Johnson – Browns: The rookie out of Miami had his best game on Sunday against the Chargers and looks to continue as the primary receiver out of the Browns backfield heading into week five. In fantasy news, he nearly doubled Isaiah Crowell in playing time and caught nine of his ten targets for 85 yards and a touchdown. While Johnson won’t make a huge impact as an every-week starter, he’s a reliable plug-in during bye weeks or at the flex, especially in PPR formats.
Allen Hurns – Jaguars: Somewhat counter intuitively, the Jacksonville defense’s lack of production may contribute to Hurns’ success. The Jags will be playing from behind all year long, which means that Hurns has an encouraging upside in any game. Blake Bortles seems to be throwing the ball better, and although Hurns is only the second best receiver on the team, he’s produced at a solid level in each contest so far. Expect deep flex numbers for the rest of the year with the occasional breakout performance.
Leonard Hankerson – Falcons: The Falcons offense is finally playing at the level they established for themselves several years ago when Mike Smith was still the coach, and not every touchdown can go to Devonta Freeman and Julio Jones. Age is catching up with Roddy White and Hankerson has racked up 25 targets and two scores over the last three games landing him in a lot of fantasy updates. Make sure to jump on the hype train before it leaves the station with Hankerson.
